The Story Begins:

“I had a dream,” said Edyth, staring at the dust motes floating in the sun-filled room. “There was a great fire. The ash floated in the air and blanketed the ground like snow.”

Carlisle, England
-1287-

Nine year old Edyth De Vries does not know she’s different. She does not yet understand what fate has in store for her. But after a terrifying nightmare becomes a reality, she questions who she is, and what her visions could mean.

Join Edyth in this prequel novella to its companion piece, The White Witch’s Daughter, as she navigates the complexities of self-discovery, only nine short years before her life takes a most devastating turn.

    About the Author

J.C. Wade is her hometown’s resident weirdo. She gets excited about archeological finds, loves folklore, and would spend all her time holed away reading books and petting cats if her family didn’t need her. She currently resides in Northern Virginia with her husband, three sons, and (only) two cats. She wishes she had more feline friends, but her husband might divorce her if she dared.

Married to a military man, she has had the great opportunity to move often and fall in love with people of all walks of life. Her works merge multiple genres, featuring elements of historical fiction, romance, fantasy, and adventure, all deemed “clean.” She has been a public educator—specifically a teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing—for most of her career but has dabbled in creative writing her entire life.

You are likely to find her out and about on book tours along the eastern coast of the U.S. Check out the events portion of the site to see if she'll be near you any time soon.
